Summer at Code

Summer at CODE, Cape Verde, also means volunteers. We have recently, been recognized as an official work placement entity for social work students. The 2 first foreign students, from the Netherlands were in Sal and together we were able to carry out additional fun, engaging and educational activities. Another group of volunteer psychologists came from Portugal and we the children had the opportunity to learn strategies to better identify and recognize their emotions. The impact of intercultural awareness, language skills enhancement as well as regulating emotions is essential for the development and empowerment of our children and youngsters so they become equipped to deal with hardships such as bullying and domestic violence to which they are frequently exposed.
